Learning From The Ants

20 kms south of Mataranka, 23/6/11

“Go to the ant, you sluggard consider its ways and be wise! (Proverbs 6:6)
Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer” (Proverbs 30:25)

There are many ant hills here. At first, I just passed them by. But after having seen so many varieties of them, I began to be drawn them.

Some of the ant hills are really big (higher than Glenn on the big horse, Picky) and some of them are very artistic. They are built by small ants, which are working diligently, together as a team.

While I was enjoying the arts of ant hills, God showed me in my mind the picture the huge buildings of Shanghai and the many people, working day and night in China. Individually, they are poor and weak, but they were making their city the centre of the whole world.

I remember, whenever I was asked about the symbolic image of Australia, I answered it was Koalas, sleeping all the time on the gum trees. They are cute and gentle like many good Aussies. But they are also a symbol of laziness. I pray that Aussies may learn from the ants to be wise and diligent, for God’s kingdom. I pray that we all may be a team working together, to rebuild and restore the walls of His Kingdom in this country.

Stephen Lewin - Yes a very poignant time – remember my hard working Dad, Lionel Roy who passed away exactly a year ago. He sacrificed for his family. He was an “ant” carrying more than his own weight. Ps Glen and team for Australia are carrying more than their own weight – they are doing this for the purposes of God for this Nation. The Elijah ride -prayer and action to see breakthrough in families (hearts turning to God and one another)that only God can bring by His Spirit working His love in our hearts. Guys go for it.

Cr Fiona Rossiter - I guess there is another way of learning from ants too. You speak about how little they are but we can see the capacity they have with the size of the ant hills they make.
I see this as an analogy in part to the work that you as a team are doing.
In comparison to Australia you are very small as a human being but the Elijah trail and country side that you have travelled is huge much like the ant hills.
I can only imagine the impact that it has had on all of those people you have met along the way and those of us who have followed your journey.
Take care Fiona
